Architectural Photography - Ganvier House

Ganvier House

I spent some weeks in Benin, West Africa a few years ago and was privileged to visit the village of Ganvier just north of Cotonou, the country’s main port. Ganvier is a collection of modest houses like this one, all of which are built on stilts and situated in a shallow lake. Fishing is by far the most common occupation of the inhabitants, but the children have been quick to catch on to the growing number of foreign visitors and you will find it difficult to ignore their water acrobatics for which you are most definitely expected to make a small donation.
